What Does Sacred Geometry Look Like in Architecture? Architecture as the Mathematics of Life

The Golden Ratio is one of the leading proportions of both sacred geometry and VIVENTE architecture. According to it, houses, parts of houses, and individual rooms are designed in order to define zones. VIVENTE places the subtle world into matter and uses the Golden Ratio in spatial proportions, openings, and flows of light. All of this is not intended for a visible effect, but rather for inner balance – grounding the body, expanding consciousness, filling the heart with the subtle world of feelings, and fostering a sense of unity between a person and their psychosomatic rhythms.

The Golden Ratio (φ ≈ 1.618) is a mathematical constant that defines the ideal relationship between several parts. It symbolizes harmony, balance, and aesthetic perfection.

The Golden Ratio is one of the most frequently occurring proportional principles not only in nature but also, for example, in human DNA, as well as in the art of ancient cultures and, of course, in architecture. In art it is often emphasized as a universally beautiful proportion; in the context of nature it symbolizes efficiency, the logic of growth, and autonomy. This proportion creates calmness, movement without chaos, makes form feel alive, and remains easy for the mind to perceive. The Golden Ratio connects nature, the human being, art, and space into one system – an organism.

Platonic solids are considered fundamental forms that reflect the order of nature and the structure of the cosmos. The name originates from Plato’s dialogue Timaeus, where the idea of the formation of natural forms and elements is developed. They act as a bridge between geometry and philosophy, between human-created architecture and nature.

Platonic solids are regular polyhedra in which all faces are identical regular polygons and the same number of faces meet at every vertex. These are five ideal – immutable and absolute – spatial forms that symbolize the elements of nature. This means that by consciously introducing these forms into architecture, nature and its inexhaustible yet harmonious power are also brought into space, grounded in mathematical perfection. Together with the deeper meanings of these elements, they create balance between the physical and spiritual worlds; they structure space with precision, creating stability and inner balance, as well as psychological comfort that can be perceived visually and felt energetically.

• Hexahedron or cube (6 square faces) – Earth; symbolizes stability, safety, and structure and provides physical balance.
• Icosahedron (20 triangular faces) – Water; symbolizes fluidity, adaptability, movement, and creativity, connecting with the intuitive world.
• Tetrahedron (4 triangular faces) – Fire; symbolizes movement, vitality, and strength in space, promoting inner dynamism and transformation.
• Octahedron (8 triangular faces) – Air; symbolizes symmetry and, by balancing opposing energies in space, promotes a sense of lightness as well as visual and emotional balance.
• Dodecahedron (12 pentagonal faces) – Ether; symbolizes the universe and spirituality. Space is formed in relation to cosmic order, creating a sense of unity and completeness. (Because of its embodiment of perfection, the dodecahedron has a special significance in the VIVENTE philosophy, which inspired the team to create the guesthouse project “DODECA PAVILION.”)
