How Space Influences Consciousness: Architecture as Psychology
VIVENTE architecture calms the mind and creates an environment that fosters a more conscious way of living.
For millennia, humans have lived in harmony with nature, its rhythms, and its processes. However, alongside the technological breakthroughs of recent centuries, daily life has changed abruptly and continues to evolve rapidly, constantly demanding new forms of adaptation. An individual is profoundly influenced by their environment; the societal models and structures – civilization itself – impact the human nervous system and the mind. VIVENTE does not seek to dispute the undeniable, but rather to acknowledge and purposefully utilize it for human well-being – creating a space where one can detach from undesirable global stimulants, restoring energy and emotional equilibrium.
The internal and external worlds, the body and the environment, exist in an inseparable interaction. Space mirrors human consciousness–the chaos or peace found within a space is also reflected in the human mind, and vice versa. VIVENTE architects understand that individuals intuitively adapt to their surroundings. Through responsible design decisions that prioritize the human being, stress hormone levels are stabilized, and chronic fatigue or internal restlessness is reduced. A living space is created for a living person.
In VIVENTE architecture, spatial elements are viewed through a psychological lens, understanding their profound impact on the nervous system and perception. These are not merely aesthetic choices, but purposeful ones.
Deliberately designed spatiality not only expands the perception of physical space but also grants freedom of thought.
In contrast to sharp lines, which subconsciously signal danger, fluid forms – circles, arches, spirals – and harmonious proportions are employed. These elements soothe and create an organic dynamism that aligns with natural processes.
The use of natural materials such as wood, stone, clay, and lime provides stability, allowing the body to feel secure. They facilitate thermoregulation, strengthening the connection with nature and positively affecting physical health.
Throughout the design process, sufficient air exchange is ensured by selecting ventilation and heat recovery systems appropriate for the building's volume, alongside compatible construction materials that are free from volatile substances and pose no harm to human health.
Natural lighting is integrated to regulate circadian rhythms, improve mood and cognitive functions, and reduce stress levels.
Since sound is one of the most powerful instruments influencing the human psyche and the ability to concentrate, thoughtful acoustics are of particular importance. A space is created where sound is absorbed rather than reflected, making silence an integral part of the design.
